Name: Seaside Letterbox
Location: Stonington Village, Connecticut
Date Placed: May 27, 2001
Difficulty: Easy, reachable by car (although we suggest you
explore the village on foot while you're there)
Find the village of Stonington (Exit 91 off Interstate 95, follow
signs to Stonington Borough). Follow Water Street all the way to its end
to a small parking area and beach. From the flagpole and memorial stone at
the water's edge, take a bearing of 340 degrees and follow the stone pathway to
its end near a chain link fence. A bearing of 265 degrees points you
to the tallest rock in the breakwater. Look in a crevasse on the north
side of the rock to find your treasure. Be sure the box is completely
hidden and safely anchored as you leave. A nearby pavilion is a great
place to move to so you are not as noticeable while stamping in. (Here's
hoping high tide doesn't wash the box away!)
